Open House and Other Important Stuff!

The students are taking turns with the Me Stew pot.  This is a wonderful opportunity for us to learn more about your child as well as building up your child's confidence as a public speaker.

Thank you Parents for a wonderful Open House Night!  It was nice to meet with all again and speak about curriculum and first grade expectations.  Thank you for taking time to write back to your child.  They loved reading your responses about what you did in first grade!  

Our Weekly Specials:

PE- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday  10:00-10:30

Art-Tuesday 8:20-9:05

Music-Friday 12:20-1:05

Spanish- Monday & Wednesday 2:00-2:30

Lunch- 11:30-12:00

Recess- Most days 1:00-1:30

Computer Class- every other Friday 9:15-10:00

Library Lesson-every other Friday 9:15-9:45

Book checkout- Tuesday 2:05-2:35

Parent Reader- Friday 2:15-2:35

Reminder:  This Monday we begin our homework packet.  The week's spelling words and word card words are on the calendar.  Please help your child remember to return the homework due each day and that word cards are returned on Thursday.

*This week's robust vocabulary words are:  escape, fright, nearby, cram, solution, strategy

The expectation for these words are that they will understand the meaning of the word by the end of the week.

First Day!

What a great start to our year! It was hard to tell who was more excited...me or them! We spent the day getting to know routines and learning about each other. I look forward to learning more about each child as I begin reading and math assessments. Be on the lookout for the "Me Stew" pot. Every child will have the opportuntity to put items in the pot to share with the class. This is another great way for classmates to learn about each other as well as practice public speaking skills.
A big thank you goes out to all of my wonderful parents! We had 100% of our families represented at Meet the Teacher yesterday. I look forward to seeing you all again next Thursday evening for Open House. Much important information will be shared them, so I hope you will all attend. See you then!

Welcome!

The beginning of a new school year is always an exciting time! The classroom has been cleaned, bulletin boards are on display, pencils have been sharpened, and I can't wait to meet my new students!
I hope that all my students and their families will be able to attend Meet the Teacher on August 18th. It would be helpful to bring your school supplies. The first day of school is August 19th, and dismissal for lower division students is at noon.
Be ready for a wonderful journey in first grade.
We're going to have a great year!
