Thank you for a wonderful year! Your children are now fourth graders! They worked hard and learned so much this year, and I will forever remember them as my final class here at Shorecrest. As you know, I have spent 18 years in education. This has been a wonderfully rewarding career! With my children all grown up and a new husband (as of next week!), it seemed like a good time to explore other options. I'm sure I will still see most of you throughout the years as my home is in St. Petersburg, and I plan to attend many Shorecrest events.
Thank you all for your generosity on my birthday as well as the letters of appreciation you and your children wrote to me.
I will forever be grateful.

May 20th
Hello Everyone!
Well, we are getting very close to the end now! The children are doing a wonderful job staying focused in spite of this, and I'm so proud of them for that. Of course, I have bribed them with a couple of fun end of the year activities...
*Next Thursday (May 30th) we will have Games Day. They are allowed to bring in a game to share with the class...please nothing expensive. We also have our end of the year party that afternoon.
*The last day of school is a half day. We will end the year with a Reading Day. Your child may bring in a small pillow, blanket or beach towel, along with some favorite books or magazines to read.
Other Class News...
We do not have a spelling or vocabulary test this week. We are still having homework all week.
Explorer projects are due on Thursday. Students may begin bringing them in on Wednesday if they are ready.
Our "Author's Celebration" is really more than that. We hope you can join us next Wednesday at 8:30 to see all the hard work that has gone into their Science projects, Social Studies projects, Technology projects, as well as our Fiction writing. Fun!

May 13th
Happy Monday!
The students have been hard at work creating their science projects. The goal was to explore a topic of interest related to our field trip at Sawgrass Lake Park. The students needed to become an "expert" on a topic and how it relates to our Florida environment. The projects will be completed this week and on display for our final Author's Celebration during the final week of school.
Speaking of our Author's Celebration...We hope you can join us on Wednesday, May 29th at 8:30 a.m. to see our final published writing piece, view our science projects, as well as our explorer projects! We've been working hard and want to show it off!
This week we will have a spelling test as well as a vocabulary quiz on Friday. It is also Splash Day this Friday. Please refer to the letter the PE teachers sent last week for details.

Hello Everyone,
We are in the midst of finalizing our science projects in class. The children are learning a lot and also enjoying this type of work! They do have a social studies project that I will explain to them in class. The majority of the work will be completed at home, and I will consider that when assigning homework. The project is due May 23. In the past, the students have greatly enjoyed this assignment and are proud of their finished product.
Dr. Bianco's weekly lower division update was filled with much helpful information so I am including it here:
We have a wonderful week ahead of us! Here are some upcoming events and activities that you might want to have on your agendas:
Ms. Cameron's student, Blake Ewert, will be Principal for the Day on Friday, May 10. As Principal for the Day, Blake would like to give permission for students to wear their favorite shirts. So Friday is Spirit Day and Wear Your Favorite Shirt To School Day.
Mom-Kid Night at a Rays Game is on Saturday, May 11 at 6:10PM.
The last ADHD Support Group meeting of the year is May 15th and Ellen Moss a Speech and Language Pathologist will speak about ADHD and dyslexia.
Memorial Day is Monday, May 27. NO SCHOOL.
Friday, May 31 is the last day of school and all students will be dismissed at noon. Extended Care is available until 5:30PM for parents who require afternoon care for their children. Please contact Betty Gootson (not Monica Stypinski) to make a reservation for your child. Children who are staying will need to bring lunch from home, as Sage will not be serving that day.
A little house keeping on issues of dress code and dismissal, if you will permit me:
There has been a dress code questions that has come up recently about boy's socks. What are they allowed to wear? Boys may wear white, navy blue, black, beige or forest green colored socks. On spirit days, gold is fine.
The other question that has come up has to do with dismissal. At the end of the day children who are not staying for clubs or after school programs need to be picked up at Charger Blvd. If a LD student has a MD or ECC sibling, they may, with permission, be picked up at Pratt Blvd. Students whose parents want to arrive early and meet their child on campus may meet their parents at the picnic tables (not in the breezeway or at the library). Lower division children may not walk to the library unsupervised. The library is only used after school for students who want to do homework (we ask that parents stay by their sides and supervise). Thank you.
I've heard that some of the children are beginning to go into summer mode. As I told the children this morning, school is not over until it is over. We have three more weeks and we work hard until the very last day. There is much to be gained in the next three weeks.
